Overview

Virginia Farm Bureau has an excellent opportunity available in our Agriculture in the Classroom Department (AITC) for an Education Program Intern.  The intern will be responsible for administrative and educational programming duties that will facilitate the growth of the AITC education program.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Prepare workshop folders (general, preschool, specialty)
  • Pack give away resource kits (general, preschool, specialty)
  • Maintain up-to-date database entry
  • Compile workshop evaluation summaries and create system to more adequately catalogue comments and testimonials
  • Update and stock education supplies and marketing materials
  • Prepare workshop teaching kits for facilitators
  • Pack/ship ag literacy materials and maintain appropriate records for the event
  • Label new books and resources
  • Prepare and ship AITC resources such as banners to county Farm Bureaus
  • Create new lessons and curriculum as needed

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Attend and assist AITC workshops as needed as schedule allows.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school degree
  • College degree or currently enrolled in college, preferably in a teacher education program

MINIMUM SKILL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability and willingness to lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Strong computer skills including database entry
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience working in education or with children.
